Spurs 1 – Sporting 1: Honours even at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Spurs were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Sporting on Wednesday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs were looking to continue their good run, following a 3-2 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. Sporting were beaten 2-0 in their previous match against Olympique de Marseille. Spurs are now in 1st place on the table and have 8 points while Sporting sit in 2nd with 7 points after 5 matches.

Sporting started the match strongly, thanks to a goal from Marcus Edwards in the 22nd minute, ending the first half 1-0.

The Lilywhites took the lead in the second half, when Rodrigo Bentancur found the net, 80 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Spurs included Bryan Salvatierra, Clement Lenglet and Emerson for Matt Doherty, Ben Davies and Lucas Moura, respectively. Sporting brought on Flavio Nazinho, Mateus Gonçalo Espanha Fernandes, Arthur Gomes, Issahaku Abdul Fatawu and Juste, to replace Nuno Santos, Hidemasa Morita, Trincao, Marcus Edwards and Paulinho.

There were bookings for Cristian Romero from Spurs. For Sporting, Sebastian Coates and Manuel Ugarte saw yellow.

Spurs will next travel to Olympique de Marseille, while Sporting will face Eintracht Frankfurt at home.
