Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig: Los Blancos survive tough home test
R Madrid beat RB Leipzig with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday at Santiago Bernabeu. RMA were looking to continue their good run after winning last match. Leipzig were beaten 4-1 in their previous match against Shakhtar Donetsk. RMA are now in 1st place, with 6 points from 2 matches, while Leipzig sit in 4th, with 0 points from 2.
After a goalless first half, RMA piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Federico Valverde gave them the lead, 80 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Marco Asensio made it 2-0 just before the full time to make it 2-0.
Substitutions for RMA included Marco Asensio, Toni Kroos, Ferland Mendy, Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos for Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, David Alaba, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior, respectively. Leipzig brought on Benjamin Henrichs, Kevin Kampl, Andre Silva and Yussuf Poulsen, to replace Mohamed Simakan, Amadou Haidara, Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg.
There were bookings for Dani Carvajal from RMA, and Amadou Haidara, Christopher Nkunku and Xaver Schlager, for Leipzig.
RMA next face Shakhtar Donetsk while Leipzig are at home to Celtic.
