Porto 2-1 Atletico Madrid: Impressive Porto strike down Atleti

Porto defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 on Tuesday at the Estadio Do Dragao. Porto were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Club Brugge away and Bayer Leverkusen away, by 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. Atleti, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Bayer Leverkusen. Following this match, Porto and Atleti sit 1st (12 points) and 3rd (5 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 6 matches.

Porto started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Mehdi Taremi in the 5th minute. Porto then netted again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Stephen Eustaquio, 24 minutes in. The score at half time remained 2-0.

Los Colchoneros took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Ivan Marcano just before the full time. The match ended with a 2-1 home victory.

Substitutions for Porto included Wendell, Toni Martinez, Rodrigo Conceicao, Bernardo Folha and Goncalo Borges for Zaidu Sanusi, Evanilson, Pepe, Wenderson Galeno and Otavio, respectively. Atleti brought on Yannick Carrasco, Matheus Cunha and Pablo Barrios Rivas, to replace Saul Niguez, Joao Felix and Angel Correa.

There were bookings for Marko Grujic and Fabio Cardoso from Porto. For Atleti, Reinildo Mandava, Stefan Savic and Rodrigo De Paul saw yellow.
