Liverpool 2 – Napoli 0: Gli Azzurri beaten away by The Reds

Liverpool defeated Napoli 2-0 on Tuesday at Anfield. Both sides arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Liverpool were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Ajax away (3-0), the other to Rangers away (7-1) while Napoli were coming from consecutive wins against Rangers and Ajax. Following the final whistle at the end of the last match of the Champions League season for both sides, Liverpool are now in 2nd place on the table and have 15 points while Napoli sit in 1st with 15 points after 6 matches.

After an uneventful first half, The Reds applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Mohamed Salah on the 85 minute mark. Liverpool then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Darwin Nunez just before the full time to make it 2-0.

Substitutions for Liverpool included Harvey Elliott, Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin William Ramsay for James Milner, Curtis Jones, Roberto Firmino, Thiago and Trent Alexander-Arnold, respectively. Napoli brought on Hirving Lozano, Eljif Elmas, Piotr Zielinski, Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori, to replace Matteo Politano, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Stanislav Lobotka, Victor Osimhen and Tanguy Ndombele.

The referee booked Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez for Liverpool.
