Liverpool 2-0 Internazionale: Home return to follow after Liverpool secure valuable away victory

Liverpool enjoyed a 2-0 away win this Wednesday, in the opening round of 16 leg against Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The hosts started the game having secured 2nd place in the group, with 10 points; the visitors, for their part, took the 1st place of Group B, with a total of 18 points. Liverpool will now have a tough challenge in the return game, at their home stadium if they want to secure a place in the next stage of the Champions League.
After an un-eventful first half, Liverpool continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Roberto Firmino giving The Reds the lead at the 75 minute mark. Liverpool then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Mohamed Salah, 83 minutes in with a final score of 2-0.
For Inter, Alexis Sanchez, Roberto Gagliardini, Andrea Ranocchia, Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco, came on for Lautaro Martinez, Arturo Vidal, Stefan De Vrij, Denzel Dumfries and Alessandro Bastoni. Liverpool brought on Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and James Milner, to replace Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, Fabinho, Harvey Elliott and Thiago.
This will be a very well received result for, on the back of a dismal draw in the first leg. It sets the stage for them well as they now move forward to the next stage of the Champions League.
