Salzburg 1-1 Milan: Rossoneri held at the Red Bull Arena

Salzburg plays a 1-1 draw at the beginning of a new Champions League season against Milan. Today’s result, leave both teams on 1 point and occupying 3rd and 2nd positions respectively, after their first match.

Salzburg started the first half well, when Noah Okafor found the net, 28 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Alexis Saelemaekers equalised for Milan just before half-time, which brought Stefano Pioli’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break Both teams struggled to produce anything in the second half and the match ended 1-1.

Substitutions for Salzburg included Bernardo, Benjamin Sesko, Lucas Gourna-Douath and Chukwubuike Adamu for Oumar Solet, Fernando, Dijon Kameri and Noah Okafor, respectively. Milan brought on Divock Origi, Sergino Dest, Tommaso Pobega, Brahim Diaz and Junior Messias, to replace Olivier Giroud, Davide Calabria, Ismael Bennacer, Charles De Ketelaere and Alexis Saelemaekers.

There were bookings for Nicolas Capaldo and Lucas Gourna-Douath from Salzburg. For Milan, Fikayo Tomori, Davide Calabria, Brahim Diaz and Divock Origi saw yellow.

In the second round of action in the Champions League Salzburg will travel to play Chelsea and Milan will play Dinamo Zagreb at home.
