Wolfsburg 1 – Union Berlin 0: The Wolves secure 3 points at home against The Iron Ones

Wolfsburg snatched all three points from Union Berlin in a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday, at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against B Mönchengladbach. Union Berlin, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-1 victory against Mainz. At the moment, Wolfsburg are in 12th place, with 31 points from 25 matches, while Union Berlin sit in 7th, with 37 points from 25.

Wolfsburg started well, with a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi, 24 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Wolfsburg, Lukas Nmecha, Aster Vranckx, Renato Steffen and Yannick Gerhardt, came on for Bartosz Bialek, Xaver Schlager, Ridle Baku and Max Kruse. Union Berlin brought on Kevin Mohwald, Andreas Voglsammer, Sven Michel, Anthony Ujah and Levin Oztunali, to replace Genki Haraguchi, Sheraldo Becker, Taiwo Awoniyi, Rani Khedira and Dominique Heintz.

The referee booked one player from Union Berlin, Kevin Mohwald.

Wolfsburg will next play SC Freiburg away, with Union Berlin facing Stuttgart at home.
