Augsburg 0-1 Bochum: Augsburg woes continue as visitors spring a surprise

Bochum’s 1-0 win over Augsburg on Saturday, was hard fought at Wwk Arena. Augsburg arrived with the intention of improving their league position following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Union Berlin in their previous game. Bochum were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against B Mönchengladbach. Augsburg are now in 14th place on the table and have 15 points while Bochum sit in 17th with 13 points after 15 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Bochum continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Christopher Antwi-Adjej gave them the lead, 58 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Augsburg included Ruben Vargas, Arne Maier, Maximilian Bauer, Lukas Petkov and Julian Baumgartlinger for Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Carlos Gruezo, Reece Oxford, Ruben Vargas and Elvis Rexhbecaj, respectively. Bochum brought on Philipp Forster, Patrick Osterhage, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Saidy Janko and Erhan Masovic for Simon Zoller, Kostas Stafylidis, Christopher Antwi-Adjej, Cristian Gamboa and Kevin Stoger.

There were bookings for Mergim Berisha from Augsburg, and Jordi Osei-Tutu, for Bochum.

Augsburg will next play Borussia Dortmund away, with Bochum facing Hertha at home.
