Wolfsburg 5 – Mainz 0: The 05ers humbled at the Volkswagen Arena

Wolfsburg beat Mainz with a thumping 5-0 victory on Friday at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Borussia Dortmund whilst Mainz secured a point against Stuttgart in their previous match. As the table looks today, Wolfsburg are currently 11th with 37 points from 31 matches, while Mainz sit in 9th, with 39 points from 31.
Wolfsburg didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with Jonas Wind opening the rout, 8 minutes in. The momentum was now with Wolfsburg, who then scored again through a effort from Max Kruse in the 35th minute to establish a 3-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a hat trick effort from Max Kruse just before half-time, which saw the first half end 5-0.
