Wolfsburg 0 – Bayer 2: The Company’s Eleven beat The Wolves at the Volkswagen Arena

Wolfsburg on home loss to Bayer Leverkusen at the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Wolfsburg were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to SC Freiburg. Bayer, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against FC Köln. As the table looks today, Wolfsburg and Bayer sit 12th, (31 points) and 3rd, (48 points), in the table respectively, after 27 matches.

After a goalless first half, Bayer continued to apply pressure in the second, with Paulinho giving The Company’s Eleven the lead, 86 minutes in. Bayer then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a 2nd effort from Paulinho just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-0.

For Wolfsburg, Aster Vranckx, Luca Waldschmidt, Ridle Baku, Yannick Gerhardt and Bartosz Bialek, came on for Xaver Schlager, Jonas Wind, Kevin Mbabu, Jerome Roussillon and John Brooks. Bayer brought on Piero Hincapie, Lucas Alario, Charles Aranguiz, Daley Sinkgraven and Paulinho, to replace Mitchel Bakker, Sardar Azmoun, Karim Bellarabi, Odilon Kossounou and Amine Adli.

There were bookings for Maxence Lacroix and Aster Vranckx from Wolfsburg. For Bayer, Amine Adli, Piero Hincapie and Kerem Demirbay saw yellow.

Wolfsburg will next play Augsburg away, with Bayer facing Hertha at home.
