Union Berlin 2-0 Dortmund: The Iron Ones victorious in big clash with Die Borussen

Borussia Dortmund fell to an away defeat at the hands of Union Berlin at the An der Alten Försterei Stadium on Sunday. Union Berlin were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning last match. Dortmund, meanwhile, were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Union Berlin are now in 1st place, with 23 points from 10 matches, while Dortmund sit in 8th, with 16 points from 10.

Union Berlin started strongly in the first half, when Janik Haberer found the net in the 8th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Janik Haberer made it 2-0 on the 21 minute mark to secure a 2-0 win. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Union Berlin included Morten Thorsby, Kevin Behrens, Milos Pantovic and Jamie Leweling for Janik Haberer, Jordan Siebatcheu, Andras Schafer and Sheraldo Becker, respectively. Dortmund replaced Donyell Malen, Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard and Giovanni Reyna with Thomas Meunier, Salih Ozcan, Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Sule and Emre Can.

There were bookings for Timo Baumgartl from Union Berlin, and Salih Ozcan and Nico Schlotterbeck, for Dortmund.

Union Berlin will play away against Bochum, while Dortmund will face Stuttgart at home.
