Union Berlin 3 – Bochum 2: Home fans rewarded with victory at the An der Alten Försterei Stadium

Union Berlin secures a 3-2 victory against Bochum at the An der Alten Försterei Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Union Berlin were looking to pick up points, following a 4-1 victory against SC Freiburg. Bochum were coming from consecutive wins against Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia Dortmund. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Bundesliga season, Union Berlin are in 5th place on the table and has 57 points while Bochum sit in 13th with 42 points after 34 matches.
The Iron Ones started the first half well, with an early goal from Grischa Promel in the 5th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi, 25 minutes in to see out the first half 2-0.
Bochum started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to Simon Zoller finding the net at the 55 minute mark. Bochum looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Eduard Lowen at the 79 minute mark to establish a 2-2. Union Berlin managed to edge ahead with a 2nd effort from Taiwo Awoniyi just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 3-2.
