Union Berlin 2-1 Gladbach: Iron Ones bounce back to winning form

Union Berlin enjoyed a home victory against B Mönchengladbach at the An der Alten Försterei Stadium on Sunday. Both Union Berlin and Gladbach came from defeats in their previous league games. Union Berlin were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Bochum while Gladbach were beaten 3-1 in their previous match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Union Berlin are now in 1st place, with 26 points from 12 matches, while Gladbach sit in 10th, with 16 points from 12.

Gladbach started strongly in the first half, when Nico Elvedi found the net, at 33 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0.

Union Berlin continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Kevin Behrens found the net, at 79 minutes. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Danilho Doekhi just before the full time to make it 2-1.

Substitutions for Union Berlin included Genki Haraguchi, Sven Michel, Christopher Trimmel, Kevin Behrens and Jamie Leweling for Andras Schafer, Jordan Siebatcheu, Tymoteusz Puchacz, Sheraldo Becker and Janik Haberer, respectively. Gladbach replaced Luca Netz, Patrick Herrmann, Yvandro Borges Sanches and Tony Jantschke with Alassane Plea, Nathan N`Goumou Minpole, Lars Stindl and Ramy Bensebaini.

There were bookings for Sven Michel, Julian Ryerson and Christopher Trimmel from Union Berlin, and Marcus Thuram and Tobias Sippel, for Gladbach.

Union Berlin will next travel to Bayer Leverkusen, while Gladbach will face Stuttgart at home.
