Stuttgart 0-1 Freiburg: The Breisgau Brazilians earn hard-fought win at Stuttgart

Stuttgart were defeated at home by SC Freiburg at the Mercedes Benz Arena on Saturday. Stuttgart were looking for a victory following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen in their previous game. Freiburg lost 3-1 in the last match they played against Borussia Dortmund. As it stands, Stuttgart and Freiburg sit 12th, (2 points) and 4th, (6 points), spots respectively, after 3 matches.

Freiburg started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Vincenzo Grifo, 11 minutes in, saw out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Stuttgart included Luca Pfeiffer, Lilian Egloff, Enzo Millot and Juan Jose Perea for Borna Sosa, Chris Fuhrich, Naouirou Ahamada and Josha Vagnoman, repectively. Freiburg brought on Woo-yeong Jeong, Manuel Gulde, Hugo Siquet, Yannik Keitel and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, to replace Ritsu Doan, Roland Sallai, Kiliann Sildillia, Vincenzo Grifo and Michael Gregoritsch.

There were bookings for Borna Sosa, Chris Fuhrich, Naouirou Ahamada and Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart. For Freiburg, Roland Sallai and Yannik Keitel saw yellow.

Stuttgart will next play FC Köln away, with Freiburg facing Bochum at home.
