Stuttgart 2 – Cologne 1: The Reds triumph over The Billy Goats at the Mercedes Benz Arena

Stuttgart earn hard-fought win over FC Köln 2-1 on Saturday at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Stuttgart arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich. Cologne, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Wolfsburg. This left, Stuttgart are in 15th place on the table and has 33 points while Cologne sit in 7th with 52 points after 34 matches.

The Reds started the first half well, thanks to Sasa Kalajdzic giving Stuttgart the lead, 12 minutes in, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Cologne took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Anthony Modeste in the 59th minute. In the end though, Stuttgart just before the final whistle took the victory following a Wataru Endo goal and seeing the game end 2-1.

For Stuttgart, Erik Thommy, Omar Marmoush, Tanguy Coulibaly and Roberto Massimo, came on for Chris Fuhrich, Tiago Tomas, Atakan Karazor and Erik Thommy. Cologne brought on Jannes Horn, Benno Erik Schmitz, Kingsley Schindler, Tim Lemperle and Ondrej Duda, to replace Jonas Hector, Kingsley Ehizibue, Florian Kainz, Luca Kilian and Mark Uth.

There were bookings for Tanguy Coulibaly from Stuttgart, and Jannes Horn, Benno Erik Schmitz, Anthony Modeste and Marvin Schwabe, for Cologne.
