Stuttgart 3 – Gladbach 2: The Reds get hard fought win over The Colts

B Mönchengladbach on away loss to Stuttgart at the Mercedes Benz Arena on Saturday. Stuttgart were looking forward to meeting again after losing 2-1 to Hoffenheim in their previous fixture whilst Gladbach are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following today’s result, Stuttgart are in 17th place, with 22 points from 25 matches, while Gladbach sit in 13th, with 27 points from 25.
The Colts started the game well, thanks to Alassane Plea finding the net, at 14 minutes. Gladbach looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Marcus Thuram at the 35 minute mark to establish a 2-0. The Reds in turn, then responded, at 38 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Wataru Endo, which saw the first half end 1-2.
Stuttgart started the second half with an intensified spirit, with Chris Fuhrich finding the net, at 51 minutes. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Sasa Kalajdzic, 83 minutes in with a final score of 3-2.
For Stuttgart, Tanguy Coulibaly, Philipp Forster and Lilian Egloff, came on for Omar Marmoush, Chris Fuhrich and Tiago Tomas. Gladbach replaced Breel Embolo and Luca Netz with Kouadio Kone and Alassane Plea.
There were bookings for Waldemar Anton from Stuttgart, and Ramy Bensebaini and Joe Scally, for Gladbach.
Stuttgart will next travel to Union Berlin, while Gladbach will face Hertha at home.
