Freiburg 3 – Wolfsburg 2: Breisgau Brazilians jubilant after home win against The Wolves

SC Freiburg eased past Wolfsburg in a 3-2 victory on Saturday at Europa-Park-Stadion. Freiburg wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig while Wolfsburg were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Union Berlin. Following today’s result, Freiburg are in 4th place, with 44 points from 26 matches, while Wolfsburg sit in 12th, with 31 points from 26.

Breisgau Brazilians started the first half well, with Vincenzo Grifo finding the net after only 7 minutes. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Vincenzo Grifo just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

The Wolves started the second half with an intensified spirit, thanks to a goal from Max Kruse, at 52 minutes. Wolfsburg looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Maximilian Arnold at the 84 minute mark to establish a 2-2. Freiburg in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Nico Schlotterbeck and seeing the game end 3-2.

For Freiburg, Roland Sallai, Kiliann Sildillia, Nils Petersen and Noah Weisshaupt, came on for Janik Haberer, Jonathan Schmid, Ermedin Demirovic and Vincenzo Grifo. Wolfsburg brought on Lukas Nmecha, Renato Steffen, Aster Vranckx, Ridle Baku and Bartosz Bialek, to replace Maximilian Philipp, Jerome Roussillon, Xaver Schlager, Kevin Mbabu and Sebastiaan Bornauw.

The referee booked Nico Schlotterbeck and Janik Haberer for Freiburg.

Freiburg will next travel to Greuther Fürth, while Wolfsburg will face Bayer Leverkusen at home.
