Leipzig 2-0 Wolfsburg: Nkunku double gives the Red Bulls home win against The Wolves

On Saturday, Wolfsburg suffer an away defeat to RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena. Leipzig arrived at the match looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Union Berlin while Wolfsburg had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Schalke. As the table looks today, Leipzig and Wolfsburg sit 10th, (5 points) and 14th, (2 points), in the table respectively, after 4 matches.

The Red Bulls found the net first, with an early penalty goal from Christopher Nkunku in the 5th minute, saw out the first half 1-0.

Leipzig continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Christopher Nkunku found the net again just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Leipzig included Josko Gvardiol, Amadou Haidara, Timo Werner and Xaver Schlager for Benjamin Henrichs, Kevin Kampl, Andre Silva and Marcel Halstenberg, repectively. Wolfsburg brought on Omar Marmoush, Felix Nmecha, Luca Waldschmidt, Josip Brekalo and Mattias Svanberg for Jakub Kaminski, Josuha Guilavogui, Lukas Nmecha, Maximilian Philipp and Maximilian Arnold.

There were bookings for Benjamin Henrichs, Konrad Laimer and Timo Werner from Leipzig. For Wolfsburg, Maximilian Arnold, Paulo Otavio and Ridle Baku saw yellow.

Leipzig will next play Eintracht Frankfurt away, with Wolfsburg facing FC Köln at home.
