Leipzig 1 – Freiburg 1: The Red Bulls held at home by Breisgau Brazilians

Leipzig were held to 1-1 draw by Freiburg down on Saturday at Red Bull Arena. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Leipzig were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Bochum away and Hertha away, by 1-0 and 6-1 respectively. Freiburg were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Hertha and Augsburg. As things stand, both teams are on 41 points and occupy 4th and 5th places respectively after 25 matches.

Breisgau Brazilians started strongly in the first half, thanks to Ermedin Demirovic finding the net at the 38 minute mark to take them into the break 0-1 up.

The Red Bulls took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Angelino just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-1.

For Leipzig, Andre Silva, Dani Olmo, Benjamin Henrichs and Dominik Szoboszlai, came on for Yussuf Poulsen, Kevin Kampl, Nordi Mukiele and Emil Forsberg. Freiburg brought on Kiliann Sildillia, Woo-yeong Jeong, Roland Sallai, Nils Petersen and Keven Schlotterbeck for Nico Schlotterbeck, Vincenzo Grifo, Ermedin Demirovic, Lucas Holer and Manuel Gulde.

The referee booked Benjamin Henrichs for Leipzig.

Leipzig will next travel to Greuther Fürth, while Freiburg will face Wolfsburg at home.
