Hoffenheim 3 – Freiburg 4: Visitors secure points with win at the Pre Zero Arena

Hoffenheim were defeated at home by SC Freiburg at the Pre Zero Arena on Saturday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Hoffenheim arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous game whilst Freiburg secured a point against B Mönchengladbach in their previous match. As things stand, Hoffenheim are in 8th place on the table and has 46 points while Freiburg sit in 4th with 55 points after 32 matches.

Breisgau Brazilians started the game well, thanks to Roland Sallai giving Freiburg the lead, 23 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Andrej Kramaric equalised for Hoffenheim in the 32nd minute. The score at half time was 1-1.

Hoffenheim started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Angelo Stiller in the 49th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Christian Gunter, 50 minutes in brought Freiburg level. The momentum was now with Freiburg, who then scored again through a goal from Lucas Holer, at 70 minutes to establish a 3-2. The momentum was now with Breisgau Brazilians, who then scored again through a goal from Woo-yeong Jeong, 73 minutes in to establish a 4-2. From Kraichgau region in turn, then responded in the 84th minute increasing their lead with an effort from Sebastian Rudy and seeing the game end 4-3.

For Hoffenheim, Georginio Rutter, Sebastian Rudy, Robert Skov, Jacob Bruun Larsen and Kasim Nuhu, came on for Munas Dabbur, Christoph Baumgartner, Diadie Samassekou, Pavel Kaderabek and Kevin Akpoguma. Freiburg brought on Nils Petersen, Ermedin Demirovic, Woo-yeong Jeong, Jonathan Schmid and Kiliann Sildillia for Manuel Gulde, Lucas Holer, Roland Sallai, Vincenzo Grifo and Lukas Kubler.

The referee booked Diadie Samassekou for Hoffenheim.

Freiburg and Hoffenheim will next play at home to Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
