Hoffenheim 3-2 Bochum: Die Kraichgauer win 5-goal home thriller

Hoffenheim defeated Bochum 3-2 on Saturday at the Pre Zero Arena. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Hoffenheim were looking to get back their winning ways after losing 3-1 to B Mönchengladbach in their last match. Bochum were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Mainz. As things stand, Hoffenheim are in 8th place in the table and have 3 points while Bochum sit in 16th with 0 points after 2 matches.

Bochum dominated the first half, when Simon Zoller gave Bochum the lead at the 10 minute mark. Bochum looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Simon Zoller, at 13 minutes to establish a 2-0. However, Hoffenheim weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Christoph Baumgartner at the 14 minute mark. From Kraichgau region then netted once more and snatched an equaliser thanks to a goal from Ozan Kabak, at 23 minutes, which saw the first half end 2-2.

Hoffenheim continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Munas Dabbur just before the final whistle. The match ended with a 3-2 home victory.

Substitutions for Hoffenheim included Kevin Akpoguma, Pavel Kaderabek, Georginio Rutter, Sebastian Rudy and Munas Dabbur for Stanley Nsoki, Kevin Vogt, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Dennis Geiger and Christoph Baumgartner, repectively. Bochum brought on Vasilis Lampropoulos, Erhan Masovic, Philipp Forster and Silvere Ganvoula, to replace Dominique Heintz, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Takuma Asano and Cristian Gamboa.

There were bookings for Kevin Akpoguma from Hoffenheim. For Bochum, Anthony Losilla saw yellow.

Hoffenheim will next play Bayer Leverkusen away, with Bochum facing Bayern Munich at home.
