Hertha 1 – Bayern 4: The Reds seal win as The Old Lady are left stunned

Hertha on Sunday lost to Bayern Munich on a home defeat at the Olympiastadion. Hertha wanted to continue adding points after a scoreless draw against Wolfsburg in their previous match. Bayern were coming off the back of a 4-0 win against FC Köln. After today’s result, Hertha are in 13th place on the table and has 22 points while Bayern sit in 1st with 49 points after 20 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Bayern, with Corentin Tolisso opening the rout in the 25th minute. The Reds then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Thomas Muller just before half-time to see out the first half 0-2.

Bayern continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Leroy Sane finding the net, at 75 minutes. Bayern looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Serge Gnabry, 79 minutes in to establish a 4-0. In the end though, Hertha secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, at 80 minutes, sealing a resounding 4-1 victory for the away side.

For Hertha, Santiago Ascacibar, Marvin Plattenhardt, Fredrik Bjorkan, Stevan Jovetic and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, came on for Vladimir Darida, Maximilian Mittelstadt, Marton Dardai, Myziane Maolida and Ishak Belfodil. Bayern brought on Omar Richards, Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano, Paul Wanner and Jamal Musiala, to replace Kingsley Coman, Corentin Tolisso, Lucas Hernandez, Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry.

The referee booked Suat Serdar for Hertha.

Hertha next face Bochum and Bayern are at home to RB Leipzig.
