Cologne 1 – Dortmund 1: All even at the Rhein Energie Stadion against Die Borussen

Cologne were held to 1-1 draw by Dortmund down on Sunday at the Rhein Energie Stadion. Both Cologne and Dortmund arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Cologne were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Dortmund were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Arminia Bielefeld. As things stand, Cologne are 7th with 40 points from 27 matches, while Dortmund sit in 2nd, with 57 points from 27.

Die Borussen started the first half well, with Marius Wolf finding the net in the 8th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Sebastian Andersson equalised for The Billy Goats at the 36 minute mark, which brought Steffen Baumgart’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break The second part was uneventful with no goals and little action at either end.

For Cologne, Kingsley Ehizibue, Jan Thielmann, Tomas Ostrak and Mathias Olesen, came on for Benno Erik Schmitz, Louis Schaub, Mark Uth and Sebastian Andersson. Dortmund brought on Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt, Donyell Malen, Marin Pongracic and Reinier, to replace Felix Passlack, Raphael Guerreiro, Thorgan Hazard, Marius Wolf and Erling Haaland.

There were bookings for Salih Ozcan and Ondrej Duda from Cologne, and Marius Wolf, Axel Witsel and Emre Can, for Dortmund.

Cologne will next travel to Union Berlin, while Dortmund will face RB Leipzig at home.
