Cologne 3 – Arminia 1: The Billy Goats jubilant after home win against The Blues

Cologne enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Arminia Bielefeld at the Rhein Energie Stadion on Saturday. Cologne were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against B Mönchengladbach away and Mainz at home, by 3-1 and 3-2 respectively. Arminia lost 3-0 in the last match they played against Bayern Munich. At the moment, Cologne are currently 7th with 49 points from 31 matches, while Arminia sit in 17th, with 26 points from 31.
Cologne started the first half well, thanks to an early goal from Mark Uth in the 3rd minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Timo Hubers managed to equalize and take the sides off in the 33rd minute at 1-1. However, Cologne just before half-time found the back of the net following a Anthony Modeste goal, finishing the first half 2-1.
The Billy Goats continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Jan Thielmann finding the net just before the final whistle. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for Cologne.
For Cologne, Jannes Horn, Louis Schaub, Jan Thielmann, Kingsley Ehizibue and Mathias Olesen, came on for Jonas Hector, Florian Kainz, Dejan Ljubicic, Benno Erik Schmitz and Mark Uth. Arminia brought on Burak Ince, Robin Hack and Gonzalo Castro, to replace Janni Serra, Sebastian Vasiliadis and Alessandro Schopf.
There were bookings for Salih Ozcan and Mark Uth from Cologne. For Arminia, Amos Pieper, Janni Serra and Patrick Wimmer saw yellow.
Cologne will next travel to Augsburg, while Arminia will face Hertha at home.
