On Sunday, Frankfurt and Cologne were held to a 1-1 draw at the Commerzbank Arena. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Frankfurt wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Hertha. Cologne, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with RB Leipzig. As it stands, Frankfurt and Cologne are 15th, (2 points) and 8th, (5 points), in the league respectively, after 3 matches.

After an uneventful first half, The Eagles took the initiative in the second half, when Daichi Kamada found the net, 71 minutes in. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Jan Thielmann equalised for Cologne at the 82 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Frankfurt included Ansgar Knauff, Daichi Kamada, Lucas Alario, Christopher Lenz and Faride Alidou for Sebastian Rode, Jesper Lindstrom, Rafael Borre, Luca Pellegrini and Randal Kolo Muani, repectively. Cologne brought on Florian Dietz, Jan Thielmann, Linton Maina, Ondrej Duda and Kingsley Schindler, to replace Steffen Tigges, Sargis Adamyan, Dejan Ljubicic, Mathias Olesen and Florian Kainz.

The referee booked one player from Cologne, Florian Dietz.

Frankfurt will next travel to Werder Bremen, while Cologne will face Stuttgart at home.
