Bochum beat Borussia Dortmund with a thumping 4-3 victory on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Dortmund were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Bayern Munich. Bochum, on the other hand, lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Augsburg. As things stand, Dortmund and Bochum currently occupy 2nd and 11th spots in the league, with 63 points and 39 points respectively after 32 matches.

Bochum started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to an early goal from Sebastian Polter in the 3rd minute. The momentum was now with Bochum, who then scored again through a goal from Gerrit Holtmann, 8 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Die Borussen weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Erling Haaland, 18 minutes in. Dortmund then scored once more and equalised thanks to a effort from Erling Haaland in the 30th minute, which saw the first half end 2-2.

Dortmund took the lead in the second half, with Erling Haaland finding the net again, 62 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Jurgen Locadia producing an equaliser in the 81st minute, bringing Bochum level. However they weren’t finished yet and Milos Pantovic made it 4-3 just before the final whistle to make it 4-3.

For Dortmund, Felix Passlack, Tom Rothe, Reinier, Youssoufa Moukoko and Antonios Papadopoulos, came on for Jamie Bynoe Gittens, Raphael Guerreiro, Marius Wolf, Julian Brandt and Axel Witsel. Bochum brought on Christopher Antwi-Adjej, Jurgen Locadia, Simon Zoller and Eduard Lowen, to replace Gerrit Holtmann, Sebastian Polter, Takuma Asano and Elvis Rexhbecaj.
