Dortmund 1-0 Bayer: Reus goal lands Die Borussen maximum points

Bayer Leverkusen suffer a first loss against Borussia Dortmund in their first match of the new Bundesliga campaign. Today’s result, leave both teams on 0 points and sitting in 10th and 9th positions respectively, after their first match.

The first half of the match started well for Dortmund, when Marco Reus gave Die Borussen the lead in the 10th minute, saw out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Dortmund included Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt, Marius Wolf and Emre Can for Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Raphael Guerreiro and Donyell Malen, repectively. Bayer brought on Charles Aranguiz, Adam Hlozek, Sardar Azmoun, Nadiem Amiri and Mitchel Bakker, to replace Robert Andrich, Karim Bellarabi, Kerem Demirbay, Exequiel Palacios and Piero Hincapie.

The referee booked Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schlotterbeck from Dortmund. Bayer had the worst of it though, with Jonathan Tah, Exequiel Palacios, Piero Hincapie and Mitchel Bakker seeing yellow, and Lukas Hradecky then sent off with a red.

In the second round of action in the Bundesliga Dortmund will play against SC Freiburg away and Bayer will play against Augsburg at home.
