Bochum 2 – Cologne 2: Vonovia Ruhrstadion sees frustrating draw

Bochum were held to 2-2 draw by Cologne down on Saturday at Vonovia Ruhrstadion. Both Bochum and Cologne arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Bochum arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Mainz. Cologne lost 4-0 in the last match they played against Bayern Munich. As it stands, Bochum are in 11th place, with 24 points from 20 matches, while Cologne sit in 7th, with 29 points from 20.
The first half of the game started favourably for Bochum, thanks to Gerrit Holtmann finding the net, 25 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Timo Hubers producing an equaliser, 36 minutes in, bringing Cologne level. However they weren’t finished yet and Anthony Modeste made it 2-1 just before half-time, to take a 1-2 lead into half time.
Bochum took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Takuma Asano in the 70th minute and seeing the game end 2-2.
For Bochum, Sebastian Polter, Takuma Asano, Cristian Gamboa, Patrick Osterhage and Christopher Antwi-Adjej, came on for Jurgen Locadia, Milos Pantovic, Kostas Stafylidis, Elvis Rexhbecaj and Gerrit Holtmann. Cologne brought on Jannes Horn, Jan Thielmann, Mark Uth, Kingsley Schindler and Kingsley Ehizibue, to replace Ondrej Duda, Louis Schaub, Dejan Ljubicic, Florian Kainz and Benno Erik Schmitz.
The referee booked Jonas Hector, Jannes Horn and Mark Uth for Cologne.
Bochum will next travel to Hertha, while Cologne will face SC Freiburg at home.
