Bochum 4 – Bayern 2: The Reds unable to avoid defeat at Vonovia Ruhrstadion

Bayern Munich fell to an away defeat at the hands of Bochum at Vonovia Ruhrstadion on Saturday. Bochum were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Hertha in their previous game. Bayern were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against RB Leipzig and Hertha. As the table looks today, Bochum are in 11th place, with 28 points from 22 matches, while Bayern sit in 1st, with 52 points from 22.
Bayern started the first half well, thanks to Robert Lewandowski finding the net, at 9 minutes. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Christopher Antwi-Adjej managed to equalize and take the sides off, 14 minutes in at 1-1. The momentum was now with Bochum, who then scored again through a goal from Jurgen Locadia at the 38 minute mark to establish a 2-1. Bochum looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Cristian Gamboa at the 40 minute mark to establish a 3-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Gerrit Holtmann made it 4-1 just before half-time, finishing the first half 4-1.
The Reds took the initiative in the second half, with Robert Lewandowski finding the net again at the 75 minute mark. The game ended with a 4-2 victory for Bochum.
For Bochum, Kostas Stafylidis, Sebastian Polter, Milos Pantovic, Takuma Asano and Erhan Masovic, came on for Cristian Gamboa, Jurgen Locadia, Gerrit Holtmann, Christopher Antwi-Adjej and Elvis Rexhbecaj. Bayern brought on Corentin Tolisso, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Marcel Sabitzer, to replace Dayot Upamecano, Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman.
There were bookings for Cristian Gamboa and Elvis Rexhbecaj from Bochum, and Benjamin Pavard, for Bayern.
Bochum will next play Stuttgart away, with Bayern facing Greuther Fürth at home.
