Bayern 6-1 Werder: Sadio Mane off injured as Bayen hammer The River Islanders

Bayern enjoyed a home victory against Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. Both Bayern and Werder arrived on the back of wins. Bayern were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games against Hertha away and Mainz at home, by 3-2 and 6-2 respectively. Werder were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Schalke and Hertha. Bayern are now in 1st place on the table and have 31 points while Werder sit in 7th with 21 points after 14 matches.

Bayern started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Jamal Musiala opened the rout early in the first half. Werder then went on to level the score at 1-1 in the 10th minute, thanks to a goal from Anthony Jung. However, each side looked hungry to win and Bayern then found the back of the net in the 22nd minute thanks to Serge Gnabry, taking the score to 2-1. The momentum was again with Bayern, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Leon Goretzka, 26 minutes in to establish a 3-1 result. The Reds then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a effort from Serge Gnabry, at 28 minutes, finishing the first half 4-1.

Bayern continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Serge Gnabry found the net once more, at 82 minutes. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Mathys Tel, 84 minutes in to make it 6-1.

Substitutions for Bayern included Leroy Sane, Marcel Sabitzer, Kingsley Coman, Ryan Gravenberch and Mathys Tel for Sadio Mane, Lucas Hernandez, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leon Goretzka and Jamal Musiala, respectively. Werder replaced Niklas Stark, Jens Stage, Eren Dinkci, Romano Schmid and Nicolai Rapp with Milos Veljkovic, Ilia Gruev, Oliver Burke, Leonardo Bittencourt and Christian Gross.

Bayern will next play Schalke away, with Werder facing RB Leipzig at home.
