Bayern 4 – Union Berlin 0: The Reds on fire, putting 4 past The Iron Ones at home

Bayern Munich snatched all three points from Union Berlin in a 4-0 victory on Saturday, at the Allianz Arena. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Bayern arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim in their previous game. Union Berlin secured a point against Stuttgart in their previous match. After today’s result, Bayern and Union Berlin currently occupy 1st and 8th spots in the table, with 63 points and 38 points respectively after 27 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Bayern, with Kingsley Coman opening the rout at the 16 minute mark. The Reds looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi in the 25th minute to establish a 2-0. The momentum was now with Bayern, who then scored again through a goal from Robert Lewandowski, 45 minutes in to establish a 3-0. The Reds then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Robert Lewandowski just before half-time, finishing the first half 4-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 4-0.

For Bayern, Marcel Sabitzer, Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Marc Roca and Corentin Tolisso, came on for Jamal Musiala, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich. Union Berlin brought on Andreas Voglsammer, Andras Schafer, Sven Michel and Anthony Ujah, to replace Taiwo Awoniyi, Kevin Mohwald, Sheraldo Becker and Genki Haraguchi.

There were bookings for Jamal Musiala and Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi from Bayern. For Union Berlin, Timo Baumgartl saw yellow.

Bayern will next travel to SC Freiburg, while Union Berlin will face FC Köln at home.
