Bayern 3 – Leipzig 2: Points secure as The Reds ease past The Red Bulls

Bayern Munich strolled past RB Leipzig with a 3-2 win on Saturday at the Allianz Arena. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Bayern were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Hertha away and FC Köln away, by 4-1 and 4-0 respectively. Leipzig were coming from consecutive wins against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart. After today’s result, Bayern and Leipzig are 1st, (52 points) and 7th, (31 points), in the league respectively, after 21 matches.

Bayern started the first half well, with Thomas Muller giving The Reds the lead at the 12 minute mark. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Andre Silva producing an equaliser, 27 minutes in, bringing The Red Bulls level. Bayern in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Robert Lewandowski, which saw the first half end 2-1.

Leipzig started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to a goal from Christopher Nkunku, 53 minutes in. In the end though, The Reds at the 58 minute mark took the victory via a Josko Gvardiol goal. The game ended with a 3-2 victory for Bayern.

For Bayern, Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano, Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi and Marcel Sabitzer, came on for Corentin Tolisso, Lucas Hernandez, Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller. Leipzig brought on Dominik Szoboszlai, Emil Forsberg, Amadou Haidara, Benjamin Henrichs and Yussuf Poulsen, to replace Kevin Kampl, Dani Olmo, Konrad Laimer, Nordi Mukiele and Andre Silva.

There were bookings for Lucas Hernandez from Bayern, and Konrad Laimer, Christopher Nkunku and Benjamin Henrichs, for Leipzig.

Bayern will next play Bochum away, with Leipzig facing FC Köln at home.
