Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Wolfsburg: The Company’s Eleven held up

On Saturday, Bayer and Wolfsburg played out a 2-2 draw at the Bay Arena. Bayer arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt. Wolfsburg were unable to beat B Mönchengladbach in a 2-2 draw. Bayer are now in 14th place, with 9 points from 11 matches, while Wolfsburg sit in 13th, with 11 points from 11.

Bayer started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Moussa Diaby found the net, 17 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Robert Andrich equalised for Wolfsburg, 28 minutes in and saw the first half out 1-1.

The Wolves fought back, when Maximilian Arnold found the net, at 54 minutes. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Jeremie Frimpong equalised for The Company’s Eleven on the 75 minute mark. The final result, Bayer 2, Wolfsburg 2.

Substitutions for Bayer included Nadiem Amiri, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Daley Sinkgraven, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Paulinho for Kerem Demirbay, Adam Hlozek, Mitchel Bakker, Odilon Kossounou and Amine Adli, respectively. Wolfsburg brought on Jonas Wind, Mattias Svanberg, Josuha Guilavogui, Jerome Roussillon and Maxence Lacroix, to replace Omar Marmoush, Kevin Paredes, Yannick Gerhardt, Jakub Kaminski and Sebastiaan Bornauw.

There were bookings for Jonathan Tah, Robert Andrich and Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Bayer, and Felix Nmecha, for Wolfsburg.

Bayer will next travel to RB Leipzig, while Wolfsburg will face Bochum at home.
