Bayer 1 – Werder 1: Victory beyond reach for The Company’s Eleven at Bayarena

Bayer were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Werder on Saturday at Bayarena. Bayer were aiming to improve their league standing after a 2-2 draw against Hertha. Werder had lost their previous match against Augsburg. Bayer and Werder are 15th, (5 points) and 10th, (9 points), in the table respectively, after 7 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Bayer took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Kerem Demirbay, 57 minutes in. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Milos Veljkovic equalised for Werder, 82 minutes in, seing the match finish 1-1.

Substitutions for Bayer included Charles Aranguiz, Adam Hlozek, Mitchel Bakker and Sardar Azmoun for Kerem Demirbay, Jeremie Frimpong, Piero Hincapie and Callum Hudson-Odoi, respectively. Werder replaced Lee Buchanan, Oliver Burke, Nicolai Rapp and Niklas Stark with Anthony Jung, Christian Gross, Ilia Gruev and Marvin Ducksch.

There were bookings for Kerem Demirbay and Jonathan Tah from Bayer, and Romano Schmid, Amos Pieper and Mitchell Weiser, for Werder.

Bayer will next play Bayern Munich away, with Werder facing B Mönchengladbach at home.
