Bayer 2 – Hoffenheim 2: Honours even and points shared at the Bay Arena

Bayer were held to 2-2 draw by Hoffenheim down on Wednesday at the Bay Arena. Bayer were hoping to get something from this game after losing 5-2 to Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous fixture. Hoffenheim were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. After today’s result, Bayer are in 3rd place on the table and has 28 points while Hoffenheim sit in 4th with 27 points after 16 matches.
Bayer started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Patrik Schick giving The Company’s Eleven the lead, 37 minutes in. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.
Bayer took the lead in the second half, thanks to Patrik Schick finding the net again, at 63 minutes. However, Hoffenheim weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Angelo Stiller at the 80 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Munas Dabbur, 83 minutes in to make it 2-2.
For Bayer, Charles Aranguiz, Amine Adli, Panagiotis Retsos, Robert Andrich and Lucas Alario, came on for Kerem Demirbay, Karim Bellarabi, Odilon Kossounou, Florian Wirtz and Patrik Schick. Hoffenheim brought on Angelo Stiller, Pavel Kaderabek, Georginio Rutter, Munas Dabbur and Sargis Adamyan, to replace Sebastian Rudy, Kevin Akpoguma, Ihlas Bebou, Christoph Baumgartner and Diadie Samassekou.
The referee booked Moussa Diaby, Odilon Kossounou, Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapie from Bayer and Moussa Diaby (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Hoffenheim’s Sebastian Rudy, David Raum and Munas Dabbur also received a yellow.
Bayer will next travel to SC Freiburg, while Hoffenheim will face B Mönchengladbach at home.
