Gladbach 2 – Wolfsburg 2: The Colts held at the Borussia Park by The Wolves

On Saturday, Gladbach and Wolfsburg were held to a 2-2 draw at the Borussia Park. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Gladbach were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Wolfsburg lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Hoffenheim. After today’s result, Gladbach and Wolfsburg currently occupy 13th and 12th spots in the table, with 27 points and 28 points respectively after 24 matches.

The Wolves started the game well, with Jonas Wind finding the net after only 6 minutes. Wolfsburg looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Sebastiaan Bornauw, 33 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Gladbach just before half-time hit back though following a Marcus Thuram goal, which saw the first half end 1-2.

The Colts took the initiative in the second half, thanks to Breel Embolo finding the net at the 82 minute mark. The final result, Gladbach 2, Wolfsburg 2.

For Gladbach, Kouadio Kone, Breel Embolo and Patrick Herrmann, came on for Christoph Kramer, Marcus Thuram and Stefan Lainer. Wolfsburg brought on Yannick Gerhardt, Kevin Mbabu, Xaver Schlager and Renato Steffen for Maximilian Philipp, Ridle Baku, Aster Vranckx and Max Kruse.

The referee booked Yann Sommer and Louis Beyer from Gladbach. Wolfsburg had the worst of it though, with Sebastiaan Bornauw, Maximilian Philipp, Ridle Baku, Koen Casteels and Yannick Gerhardt seeing yellow, and Maxence Lacroix then sent off with a red.

Gladbach will play their next fixture away against Stuttgart, while Wolfsburg will face Union Berlin at home.
