Gladbach 3-1 Hoffenheim: The Colts too strong for visitors at the Borussia Park

Hoffenheim open Bundesliga season with a defeat against B Mönchengladbach. Today’s result, Gladbach and Hoffenheim currently occupy 3rd and 16th spots in the table, with 3 points and 0 points respectively after 1 match.

From Kraichgau region started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Robert Skov found the net, 25 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Ramy Bensebaini equalised for The Colts just before halftime, finishing the first half 1-1.

Gladbach continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Marcus Thuram found the net at the 71 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Nico Elvedi, at 78 minutes to make it 3-1.

Substitutions for Gladbach included Stefan Lainer and Patrick Herrmann for Joe Scally and Jonas Hofmann, repectively. Hoffenheim brought on Stanley Nsoki, Kevin Akpoguma, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Muhammed Damar and Sebastian Rudy, to replace Diadie Samassekou, Pavel Kaderabek, Georginio Rutter, Christoph Baumgartner and Andrej Kramaric.

The referee booked Joe Scally from Gladbach. Hoffenheim had the worst of it though, with Stefan Posch, Diadie Samassekou and Kevin Vogt seeing yellow, and Stefan Posch (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

In the second round of action in the Bundesliga Gladbach will play against Schalke away and Hoffenheim will play against Bochum at home.
