River Plate 1-1 Rosario Central 2: River upset at home as visitors fight back

River fell to a home defeat at the hands of Rosario Central at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti on Monday. River were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the CA Platense at home (2-1), the other to Patronato away (1-0). Rosario Central, meanwhile, were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. River are now in 4th place on the table and have 44 points while Rosario Central sit in 19th with 31 points after 26 matches.
Rosario Central found the net first, when Alejo Veliz gave them the lead, 14 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.
Rosario Central fought back, with an early second effort from Alejo Veliz in the 49th minute. River in turn, then responded just before the full time, grabbing the lead with an effort from Matias Suárez, leaving the final score at 2-1.
Substitutions for River included Nicolás De La Cruz, Matias Suárez, Pablo Solari and Tomas Pochettino for Jose Paradela, Ezequiel Barco, Lucas Beltran and Agustin Palavecino, respectively. Rosario Central replaced Mateo Tanlongo, Alejo Veliz, Facundo Almada and Gino Infantino for Francis Mac Allister, Gustavo Ramirez, and Alan Marinelli.
The referee booked seven players. Agustin Palavecino and Nicolás De La Cruz from River, who saw yellow cards and Juan Quintero, sent off with a red, as well as for Rosario Central Christian Baez, Lautaro Blanco, Kevin Ortiz and Alejo Veliz received yellows.
River will next travel to Racing Club, while Rosario Central will face Colón at home.
