Visitors leave Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti with nothing

River’s 2-1 win over CA Platense on Thursday, was hard fought at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti. River were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against Patronato away and Estudiantes La Plata at home, by 1-0 and 5-0 respectively.

After an uneventful first half, River piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Nicolás De La Cruz gave them the lead, 60 minutes in. River looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Matias Suárez, 64 minutes in to establish a 2-0. in turn, then responded in the 70th minute, grabbing the lead with an effort from Mauro Zarate, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for River included Santiago Simon, Matias Suárez, Lucas Beltran and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez for Agustin Palavecino, Miguel Angel Borja, Juan Quintero and Emanuel Mammana, respectively.
