Racing 2-0 Vélez: Racing Club bounce back with positive home win

Racing Club’s 2-0 win over Vélez Sarsfield on Friday, was hard fought at Estadio Juan Domingo Peron. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Racing were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 2-0 to Godoy Cruz while Vélez lost 1-0 in the last match they played against CA Platense. As the table looks today, Racing and Vélez are 5th, (6 points) and 27th, (1 point), spots respectively, after 3 matches.

Racing found the net first, thanks to a goal from Matias Rojas at the 30 minute mark, ending the first half 1-0.

Racing continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Fabricio Dominguez just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Racing included Emiliano Vecchio, Ivan Pillud, Lucas Orban and Fabricio Dominguez for Leonel Miranda, Matias Rojas, Facundo Mura and Edwin Cardona, repectively. Vélez brought on Luca Orellano, Lucas Pratto, Santiago Caseres, Julian Fernandez and Sebastian Sosa, to replace Agustin Bouzat, Joel Sonora, Nicolas Garayalde, Abiel Osorio and Francisco Ortega.

There were bookings for Edwin Cardona, Enzo Copetti and Leonardo Sigali from Racing, and Abiel Osorio, Maximo Perrone, Damian Fernandez and Diego Valentin Gomez, for Vélez.

Racing will next play Gimnasia La Plata away, with Vélez facing Rosario Central at home.
