Racing 1-2 River: River Plate rally late to secure victory

Racing Club experienced a home defeat to River at Estadio Juan Domingo Peron on Sunday. Racing had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning their previous two matches against Lanús away and Colón away, by 1-0 and 2-0 respectively, while River had lost their previous match against Rosario Central. Following the final whistle at the end of the last match of the la Superliga Argentina season for both sides, Racing are now in 2nd place on the table and have 50 points while River sit in 3rd with 47 points after 27 matches.
After an uneventful first half, Racing fought back the second half, when Matias Rojas gave them the lead in the 56th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Miguel Angel Borja on the 80 minute mark brought River level. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a 2nd effort from Miguel Angel Borja just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.
Substitutions for Racing included Facundo Mura, Gabriel Hauche, Jonathan Galvan, Maximiliano Romero and Nicolas Oroz for Ivan Pillud, Matias Rojas, Johan Carbonero, Leonel Miranda and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively. River brought on Tomas Pochettino, Jose Paradela, Matias Suárez and Paulo Diaz, to replace Enzo Perez, Pablo Solari, Lucas Beltran and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
There were bookings for Leonel Miranda, Carlos Alcaraz and Johan Carbonero from Racing, and Marcelo Herrera, Enzo Perez, Javier Pinola, Agustin Palavecino, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez and Franco Armani, for River.
