Independiente 1 – Talleres 0: Visitors unable to get win at Libertadores de América

Independiente strolled past Talleres Córdoba with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Libertadores de América. Independiente wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with San Lorenzo in their previous game. Talleres had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against Sarmiento. As the table looks today, Independiente are in 6th place in the table and have 4 points while Talleres sit in 9th with 3 points after 2 matches.

Independiente dominated the first half, when Romero found the net, 26 minutes in, saw the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Independiente included Togni, González and Laso for Fernández, Cazares and Rodríguez, repectively. Talleres brought on Malatini, Toloza, Garro and Martino, to replace Juárez, Godoy, Esquivel and Pérez.

There were bookings for Fernández and González from Independiente, and Esquivel and Juárez, for Talleres.

Independiente will next travel to Argentinos Juniors, while Talleres will face Newell’s Old Boys at home.
