Central Córdoba banked all three points against the Independiente in a 2-1 victory on Thursday, at Libertadores de America. Independiente were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Arsenal de Sarandi away (1-0), the other to Newell’s Old Boys at home (1-0). Central Córdoba had secured a point against CA Sarmiento in their previous match. Independiente are now in 15th place, with 30 points from 23 matches, while Central Córdoba sit in 12th, with 31 points from 23.

After an uneventful first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Central Córdoba who started the second half strongly, with an early goal from Jesus Miguel Soraire in the 50th minute. Central Córdoba looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Juan Insaurralde after 61 minutes to establish a 2-0. In the end though, Independiente pull-back with a Edgar Elizalde goal just before the full time. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.
