Godoy Cruz 2 – Racing 0: Visitors to Estadio Malvinas Argentinas leave with nothing

Godoy Cruz snatched all three points from Racing Club in a 2-0 victory on Sunday, at Estadio Malvinas Argentinas. Godoy Cruz were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to CA Platense. Racing, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against CA Huracán. As it stands, both teams are on 3 points and sit in 8th and 10th places respectively after 2 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Godoy Cruz who started the second half well, thanks to a goal from Salomon Rodriguez at the 53 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Salomon Rodriguez made it 2-0 at the 70 minute mark with a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Godoy Cruz included Tadeo Allende, Nestor Breitenbruch, Juan Andrada, Juan Pintado and Tomas Badaloni for Pier Barrios, Ezequiel Bullaude, Nelson Acevedo, Martin Ojeda and Salomon Rodriguez, repectively. Racing brought on Fabricio Dominguez, Edwin Cardona, Roman Fernandez and Fernando Prado for Jonathan Gomez, Facundo Mura, Matias Rojas and Gonzalo Piovi.

Godoy Cruz and Racing played a tough game where the referee sanctioned Godoy Cruz with yellow cards to Pier Barrios, Franco Negri, Nelson Acevedo and Salomon Rodriguez and with red card to Franco Negri (2 yellow cards), while from Racing Fabricio Dominguez were booked and red to Tomas Chancalay.

Godoy Cruz will next travel to Rosario Central, while Racing will face Vélez Sarsfield at home.
