Estudiantes 1-2 Defensa and Justicia 2: The Hawk rack up another success

Defensa and Justicia enjoyed an away victory against Estudiantes at Estadio Ciudad de La Plata on Tuesday. Estudiantes were aiming to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Rosario Central. Defensa and Justicia were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Argentinos Juniors. Estudiantes are now in 14th place, with 27 points from 20 matches, while Defensa and Justicia sit in 18th, with 25 points from 20.

It was an impressive opening from Defensa and Justicia, when Adonis Frias gave them the lead, at 23 minutes to see out the first half 1-0.

Defensa and Justicia continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Andy Rios found the net on the 56 minute mark. In the end though, Estudiantes hit back though following a Mauro Boselli goal, 61 minutes in. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Estudiantes included Leandro Diaz, Benjamin Rollheiser, Pablo Piatti and Leonardo Heredia for Mauro Mendez, Leonardo Godoy, Franco Zapiola and Fernando Zuqui, respectively. Defensa and Justicia replaced Nicolas Fernandez, Tomas Escalante, Lucas Souto and Francisco Marco with Manuel Duarte, Tomas Ezequiel Galvan, Gabriel Alanis and Gaston Togni.

The referee booked Emanuel Mas from Estudiantes. Defensa and Justicia had the worst of it though, with Andy Rios, Tomas Ezequiel Galvan and Tomas Escalante seeing yellow, and Andy Rios (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Estudiantes will next travel to Atlético Tucumán, while Defensa and Justicia will face Patronato at home.
