Estudiantes 2-4 Colón: Visitors come up big for precious three points

Estudiantes were defeated at home by Colón at Estadio Ciudad de La Plata on Saturday. Both Estudiantes and Colón arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Estudiantes were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-1 to Atlético Tucumán in their last fixture whilst Colón were beaten 4-0 in their previous match against Argentinos Juniors. Estudiantes are now in 19th place, with 27 points from 22 matches, while Colón sit in 25th, with 22 points from 22.

Colón started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Santiago Pierotti found the net in the 19th minute. However, their lead was short-lived, as Fernando Zuqui equalised for Estudiantes, 32 minutes in, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Colón started the second half with renewed vigour, when Luis Miguel Rodriguez gave them the lead on the 53 minute mark. The momentum was again with Colón, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Ramon Abila, 70 minutes in to establish a 3-1 result. In the end though, Estudiantes pull-back just before the final whistle, with a goal from Fabian Noguera, leaving the final score at 4-2.

Substitutions for Estudiantes included Leonardo Heredia, Franco Zapiola, Mateo Pellegrino and Benjamin Rollheiser for Fernando Zuqui, Pablo Piatti, Leandro Diaz and Manuel Castro, respectively. Colón brought on Juan Sanchez Mino, Juan Pablo Alvarez, Franco Deboli, Brian Farioli and Stefano Moreyra for Santiago Pierotti, Cristian Bernardi, Baldomero Perlaza, Luis Miguel Rodriguez and Ramon Abila.

There were bookings for Leandro Diaz from Estudiantes. For Colón, Santiago Pierotti, Gian Nardelli and Baldomero Perlaza saw yellow.

Estudiantes will next travel to River, while Colón will face Patronato at home.
