Colón 0-4 Argentinos: Argentinos heap more pressure on struggling hosts

Argentinos Juniors banked all three points against the Colón in a 4-0 victory on Monday, at Estadio Brigadier Estanislao Lopez. Both Colón and Argentinos arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Colón were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-0 to Talleres Córdoba, while Argentinos were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Atlético Tucumán. Colón are now in 25th place on the table and have 19 points while Argentinos sit in 6th with 33 points after 21 matches.

Argentinos started the first half well, when Gabriel Avalos opened the rout, 23 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Gaston Veron made it 2-0, 32 minutes in, finishing the first half 2-0.

Argentinos continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Javier Cabrera, 58 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Andres Roa made it 4-0 just before the full time to give a final score of 4-0.

Substitutions for Colón included Juan Sanchez Mino, Santiago Pierotti, Juan Pablo Alvarez, Laureano Troncoso and Franco Deboli for Andrew Teuten, Augusto Schott, Baldomero Perlaza, Luis Miguel Rodriguez and Cristian Bernardi, respectively. Argentinos replaced Gaston Veron, Jose Maria Herrera, Javier Cabrera, Alan Rodriguez and Gabriel Avalos for Nicolas Reniero, Andres Roa, Luciano Sanchez, Luciano Gomez and David Zalazar.

The referee booked Facundo Garces for Colón.

Colón will next travel to Estudiantes La Plata, while Argentinos will face River at home.
