Central Córdoba 1-0 Gimnasia: Visitors suffer a big upset

On Wednesday, Gimnasia La Plata suffered an away defeat to Central Córdoba at Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Central Córdoba were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 3-0 victory against Godoy Cruz. Gimnasia were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Arsenal de Sarandi. Central Córdoba and Gimnasia currently occupy 21st and 2nd spots in the table, with 24 points and 36 points respectively after 20 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Central Córdoba applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Gonzalo Torres gave them the lead just before the final whistle. They managed to close the match out with a clean sheet and a well-earned of 1-0 victory.

Substitutions for Central Córdoba included Gonzalo Torres, Hernan Lopez Munoz, Jose Gomez, Deian Veron and Lucas Besozzi for Renzo Lopez, Francisco Gonzalez Metilli, Fernando Martinez, Enzo Kalinski and Juan Kaprof, respectively. Gimnasia brought on Lautaro Chavez, Matias Miranda and Benjamin Dominguez, to replace Alexis Steimbach, Ramon Sosa and Erik Ramirez.

There were bookings for Lautaro Montoya and Deian Veron from Central Córdoba, and Agustin Cardozo and Oscar Piris, for Gimnasia.

Central Córdoba will next travel to Aldosivi, while Gimnasia will face CA Tigre at home.
