Banfield 2-3 Unión: Sante Fe take maximum points in thrilling goal-fest

Unión Santa Fe eased past Banfield in a 3-2 victory on Sunday at Florencio Sola. Both Banfield and Unión arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Banfield had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning last match while Unión were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Lanús and Boca. After today’s result, Banfield are in 5th place, with 11 points from 7 matches, while Unión sit in 3rd, with 13 points from 7.

Unión dominated the first half, with an early goal from Bryan Castrillon in the 5th minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Ramiro Enrique managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 17 minute mark at 1-1. However, Unión, 27 minutes in reestablished their lead thanks to a Daniel Eduardo Juarez goal, finishing the first half 2-1.

Banfield took the initiative in the second half, when Ramiro Enrique found the net again in the 56th minute. In the end though, Unión in the 60th minute took the victory following a Ezequiel Martin Canete goal. The final result, Banfield 2, Unión 3.

Substitutions for Banfield included Erik Lopez, Jesus Datolo, Juan Manuel Cruz, Pablo Cuadra and Dylan Gissi for Matias Gonzalez, Nicolas Domingo, Luciano Abecasis, Agustin Urzi and Alejandro Maciel, repectively. Unión brought on Juan Carlos Portillo, Franco Calderon, Imanol Machuca, Mariano Peralta Bauer and Kevin Zenon, to replace Leonel Bucca, Ezequiel Martin Canete, Daniel Eduardo Juarez, Matias Gallegos Panozzo and Bryan Castrillon.

There were bookings for Emanuel Coronel from Banfield. For Unión, Leonel Bucca, Daniel Eduardo Juarez, Lucas Angel Esquivel and Sebastian Moyano saw yellow.

Banfield next face San Lorenzo and Unión are at home to Defensa and Justicia.
