Banfield were held to 1-1 draw by San Lorenzo down on Sunday at Florencio Sola. Banfield were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Unión Santa Fe. San Lorenzo were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Boca in their last match. After today’s result, Banfield are in 10th place, with 12 points from 8 matches, while San Lorenzo sit in 12th, with 11 points from 8.

It was an impressive opening from San Lorenzo, thanks to a goal from Adam Bareiro at the 22 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Matias Gonzalez equalised for Banfield, 38 minutes in to see out the first half 1-1. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Both coaches used the full entitlement. Substitutions for Banfield included Pablo Cuadra, Juan Manuel Cruz and Julian Eseiza for Matias Gonzalez, Nicolas Domingo and Luis Mago, repectively, San Lorenzo brought on Malcom Braida, Ivan Leguizamon and Nestor Ortigoza to replace Nahuel Barrios, Ezequiel Cerutti and Ignacio Mendez.

There were bookings for Dylan Gissi from Banfield. For San Lorenzo, Gaston Campi and Agustin Giay saw yellow.

Banfield will next play Talleres Córdoba away, with San Lorenzo facing Unión Santa Fe at home.
